WD-40 worked well for me. It turns the cosmoline to a kind of soupy liquid and it can be wiped away easily. I suggest putting down some newspaper first, though. It's messy.

+1 on the boresnakes! Those things have given me back so many hours in my life that were previously spent cleaning.

They have that same package at cabellas up here in Missouri. 150$ I was thinking about picking one up but heard it was coated in stuff & hard to put a scope on. Not yet for me. But want to here how you like it and how it shoots.

Best cleaning for berdan primed ammo?

1) hot water
2) windex
3) water
4) dry patch
5) gun oil of your choice

Hot water is okay to clean the stock off right? Just using kerosene on the metal parts or is that bad? I'm looking it up and haven't seen anything bad about it.
