WD-40 worked well for me. It turns the cosmoline to a kind of soupy liquid and it can be wiped away easily. I suggest putting down some newspaper first, though. It's messy.
They have that same package at cabellas up here in Missouri. 150$ I was thinking about picking one up but heard it was coated in stuff & hard to put a scope on. Not yet for me. But want to here how you like it and how it shoots.

Oh come on that's part of the experience taking he cosmoline off.
hears mine after alot of sanding 4 coats of stain and about 10 coats of spray polly worst part was weighting 1 week for polly to fulley dry befor shooting it
mine was about 160 with shipping and fll fees

Hot water is okay to clean the stock off right? Just using kerosene on the metal parts or is that bad? I'm looking it up and haven't seen anything bad about it.
