Brown bear and other modern factory loads are non corrosive. Certain manufactures slip my mind at the moment. Depends on what you mean by better... It's cheaper, FMJ, and have ok to ehh accuracy. YMMV, my 34' likes 203 grain brown bear soft points.

Any local gun shop...the 'net...easy to find...
The price difference...cheaper to buy in bulk...
Mil-surp tends to be less accurate but it's the ammo the gun was meant to shoot...

The difference in modern commercial and surplus (corrosive) ammo prices is the difference in about $.18 per round and $.50 cents per round. You can shoot almost three times the ammo for the dollar. That is important if, like me, you are a tightwad and you shoot a lot of ammo.

I've got a lgs that sells mil-surp ammo buy the box, case or pallet. I bought a spam can of Bulgarian 7.62x54R (300 rounds) for 42 bucks. I'm not sure of what year it was manufactured or bullet or powder weight but I know my 46' M44 shoots it fine, not super accurate but what can you expect from cheap ammo.
