If its soviet why does it have Romania stamped on the barrel and RPR on the receiver?

If its soviet it would have a hammer and sickle right?

You are correct! I saw the arrow in triangle, but did not look to see if it was fletched. Good catch! Worth $200.00. Even That sling adds an extra 35.00.

Sorry if I came across like a jerk reread my post.

I really enjoy the rifle, and I am happy with what I paid. But I think I missed up and should have gotten a 91/30. I was thinking it would be better the shorter barrel going into the woods to hunt but now seeing it would be better to scope the 91/30. But I will keep my eyes open for a deal and pickup a 91/30 when I get a chance.

No harm! You may be really suprised at the accuracy of your M44. I gave my son a 1952 Hungarian. I use to shoot it from 50 yards to 2 hundred yards. Milk jugs filled w/ sand were the favorite target. Can't remember ever missing. The Romanians are supposed to be as accurate. I understood where you were coming from w/ your response, I was wrong.

DO NOT GET THE DOVE TAIL/ SCOUT MOUNT. I know the price is appealing but it is junk and will most likely raddle off after a few shots. I reccomend the mount produced by rock solid for mounting a scope on a mosin. Just finished mine a couple days ago with the rock solid mount and we were shooting moa from 100 yards with a benchrest with a MOSIN! Trust me on this one.
