mosin's are sighted for 300 yards at the lowest setting so they tend to shoot high russian solders where trained to aim at the belt buckel and that would give them chest shots it tuck me over 100 shots to get the hang of aiming the rifle and get the sights adjusted

I had the same problem with my M44 when I first shot it. Then I aimed it at a big dry dusty hill at 50 yards to see where the poof of dust happens. The sights are set for at least a couple hundred yards out, as others have said. Once you get used to that, it all comes together. Turns out, my M44 is in great shape and more accurate than I am.
