It's a very simple weapon to get along with, but these other threads will help you out. I would link up some of these, but I can't do that on my phone and it's hell to pry my wife away from the computer.

Fun rifles. Almost better than my SKS.
The M44's a great little carbine. You should be
able to take game easily with these, if you can
stalk, and you practice a little at the range.
The coolest thing, IMO, about a MN is there are only three accessories,
the bayonet, the sling, and the accessory kit. Many times you
get all three when you purchase the gun. The Bayo is built-in
on the M44.

I love mosin nagants! I have two of them and have never had any problems with them! Yes it is a very old (but good) design and that 7.62x54R is a good round and cheap to buy

I don't think they'll ever become rare. Just 10 years ago they were selling for 49.99, now they're a whopping 69-120 depending on where where you get it from. There is just so many of them, and a lot of people look at the price and the foreign round and write it off as a junk rifle (just as I did about 7-8 years ago when I saw some for 65 bucks)
Those that have them know better. I'm so glad I changed my mind and got one.

I don't mind my 91/30 for hunting, althought the last deer I shot i probably could've stabbed it with the bayonet if I had it with ( plus, it's illegal in my state)

I just recently did some hunting with mine (didn't get anything), I enjoyed it. Discovered my rifle is lighter than my mom's .44 mag never rifle. And silver bear makes a 203 gain soft point that's gotten some pretty good reviews.

The Russians must have gotten something right with the 7.62x54r since it's been manufactured and in service since 1891 .
