That 7mm08 is deadly accurate on deer out to 400 yards w good bullets. If you reload you might also want to consider a warbird round for long range target/hunting.

God didnt make all men equal colonel sam colt did

7mm-08 if loaded with the correct ammo will have no problem on deer at 200 yards. the 7mm-08 rifle i have is the one that gets shot the most. this is one round that truly improved upon the 308 and IMO, the 308 is an excellent round. get that 7mm-08 out and shoot it. i reload more 7mm-08 ammo than any other i own. i have probably shot at least 500-600 rounds through mine in less than a year.
The 6.5x06 is a great round. It does not give much up to the .264 Mag, it is not a barrel burner and can be loaded w/ down to a 87gr and up to 160gr bullet. My 6.5's tend to like 100..160gr. 87's are ok for short distances, but accuracy goes south quick if you push them too fast.

Thanks for all the insight, but I've decided on the gun I'm getting.

I think with the Sendero platform and about any caliber you want you will be just fine. I know a lot of people kind of scoff at using a heavy gun for hunting, but I got used to it real quick when I started piling deer up with one. hahaha To answer your question about recoil, I had a Remington 700 SPS in 7mm Rem Mag and then sold it when I got the 7mm Rem Mag Sendero, and there is quite a bit of difference in felt recoil, shooting the exact same box of factory ammo I was shooting at the time. Pretty descent factory trigger for hunting purposes with the newer Pro trigger, if you were going to shoot target, you might want something you can get a little lighter. I got a Harris Bipod on mine and a 6-24x50 scope and it is a killing machine. It will be even better when I get some rounds reloaded. This is about all I have observed from mine to this point. I know it is kind of a spendy gun, but it has been worth every penny.

I was shooting an inch group at 100yds with factory ammo without having the barrel broke in yet or adjusting the trigger or anything. I got it out of the box, put the scope on it, cleaned it, sighted it in, and shot 2 deer in the neck within 20 sec of each other, one at 100yds, the other at a little over 200yds. I look forward to reloading some good rounds with some 168gr. Bergers so we'll see what she can do then. It came from the factory at 3 13/16 lb trigger, which I will take down to 3lb before I start working up loads.

The Sendero is a fine rifle. Here is one that is a Very nice rifle. Scope is cheap, but the price is right! $950.00 now.
PRICE REDUCED! F/S REMMY SENDERO II 7MM ULTRA MAG

If you have a 7mm08 and reload, that would be a plus!

most magnums are sometimes the best bargains on rifles IMO, because of two reasons, one, most don't get shot a lot because they were purchased for hunting. second, because people who bought them thought they wanted a magnum until they shot a few rounds through them and didn't like the recoil. over the years, i have picked up a few because of this.

If you read the discription, it says 40..50 rounds through it. That poor thing is not even broken in. New is 1450.00, this one is $950.00 w/ brass, dies, a few bullets. $500.00 less w/ $70.00 in supplies. Hey, to each their own.
