May I suggest you get your hands on Hornady LeveRevolution ammo, when it again comes available? Hornady figured out that byputting a soft polymer tip on the bullets, there was no danger of impact discharges in the feed tube. The rubber tip can rest against the primer of the next cartridge without being a worry. The added advantage of the polymer tip is to make the bullet more aerodynamic, which along with new powders and metallurgy, will turn your lever gun into an honest, accurate 300+ yard rifle.

Cool video on their web site:
I'm proof to that conventional wisdom. For almost 20 years every deer I shot, on average 2 per season, I shot with my 30-30. It wasn't until this last couple of seasons that I started using a 308.

First off I like your setup Jim but I dont know anything about the 35 Remington & how does it compare to the 30-30?

Since I bought the rifle the guys have been preaching the hornardy ammo & taking the 30-30 to 300yards. The thing is I'm in south east Georgia & I don't think I'll ever shoot a deer out here at that kinda range so I'm leaning towards the williams peep sight.
