May I suggest you get your hands on Hornady LeveRevolution ammo, when it again comes available? Hornady figured out that byputting a soft polymer tip on the bullets, there was no danger of impact discharges in the feed tube. The rubber tip can rest against the primer of the next cartridge without being a worry. The added advantage of the polymer tip is to make the bullet more aerodynamic, which along with new powders and metallurgy, will turn your lever gun into an honest, accurate 300+ yard rifle.

I'm proof to that conventional wisdom. For almost 20 years every deer I shot, on average 2 per season, I shot with my 30-30. It wasn't until this last couple of seasons that I started using a 308.
