No big deal about the .300 Savage. It is so close to the .308 as to be indistinguishable. The .30-30 at 300 yards is marginal, even w/ Hornady ammo.
Two years ago, resting on the side of a big oak, I put two rounds 4 inchs apart right in the boiler room of a large doe from 304 yds with the Hornady Leverevalution ammo. When I sighted it in (of the bench) it was shooting MOA!
If it were not completely calm and this gun did not shot MOA I would not have taken the shot. But I knew the 160 gr bullet with that BC would still be effective on the animal. I WAS RIGHT!
