I did not notice this while at the store. When I used a spirit level, the scope base (the top of the receiver that has the two pairs of filler screws for mounting a scope) is canted about 1-2 degrees to the left. Does anyone know if this is how the rifle is made? I am using iron sights and it is shooting high to the left.

How do you know the top is canted? The sides quite likely are not at exactly 90 degrees to the top. Tap out one of the sights and use the bottom of the dovetail as true then compare the top to that.

Hiwall, you are right. The rifle receiver is true. Apparently it is only an optical illusion. I compared a new one at Walmart and another at Cabela's and they are identical to mine. I have made adjustments since then and the grouping is better. Thanks.
