Goin to gun show this coming weekend.. can anyone tell me how well the 308 express is.. or anything bad about them.. looking for another lever action.

It a cartidge thats mid way between a 30-30 and a 308win. Much closer to the old 300 savage except that one has a pointed bullet. Down side , Probably won't find ammo stocked in most stores and less choice of bullet designs when found. Just order a pile of ammo then your covered. Or reload.

Hold out for a BLR (Browning Lever Rifle) in .308 Win., you'll have the best of both. Lever action with .308 balistics and bullet type choice. A BLR is magazine fed as opposed to the tube feed of most lever guns. You can find a used BLR in the $500 range.

Yeah i heard ammo was hard to get for it. Just have to look and see what i can find. Already have a .30-30 lever and a .44 lever.. maybe i will find that winchester .308 ... Thx

The lgs by me has a winchester model 88 in 308. Beautiful firearm. They want almost 900 dollars for it.

I've worked on enough of those 88s to tell you to go buy a used savage 99 or go with the 308 marlin if you want. We had over 20,000 of the 100s and 88s go through the shop. And they have magazine problems, best accuracy was 1 inch with a 100 that we spent way to much time and money on to make accurate. The action isn't as smooth as a savage or a marlin.

Other choices might be Marlin 45-70, Marlin 444, Savage 308 or 300 savage, Win '95(reproduction) in 30/06, Win 94 in 375 win(can shoot 38-55). There is alot to be said for sticking to one of the common calibers. But I must say my friend has a Winchester 1876 in 50-95 that he really likes.
