Default Marlin 1936

Ones anyone know why this model was only produced for two years? (1936 & 1937) was there an inherent problem with the design? Seen one at the gun store looked like a shooter.

It was origninaly called the 'model 1936' but then was re-labled the 'model 36' after the initial 2 years. It was produced under that model name until the early forties untill it was redesigned (different receiver design) in the late forties, and then the new version was released as the ''model 336" which is what it is still called today.
