Default The "Maine" Rifle

I stopped in at Rileys Gun Shop yesterday in Hooksett N.H. just to browse a bit, and I saw one of the new T/C Encore Pro Hunter models. It had a stainless receiver and barrel with a synthetic stock. The 18" barrel was fluted and chambered for .460 S&W, I was impressed with how light it was. The clerk told me that was what they called a "Maine" rifle. I asked why they called it that, and he replied "because it's so short, you can swing it around quickly inside the cab of your pickup truck without breaking the window".......Doh !

I'm sure Maine doesn't have a monopoly on spotting and shooting from vehicle windows...personally, I was never hungry enough to "hunt" like that. Most of the "hunters" that I've come across that actually brag about doing **** like that probably eat yellow snow...
