M48 mauser scope mounting problems/suggestions
Hi I have a m48 mauser, and I'm wondering how to mount a scope on top of the receiver so the bolt handle clears
The Bolt handle is bent
I originally bought a .400 low turret mount, and that's too low
I placed an order today for the Leupold 2 piece base and Leupold standard 1"high rings, which should give me 1.2-1.3 inches of clearance
Will that'd base and ring set be enough to clear the boot handle?
I have a VX-1 3x9 40mm scope if that helps
And if that's not enough, what mounts would work?

OK, You bought a low turret mount. From Who??? I've never heard of a .400 low turret. This is a true low turret. Bases are see through as original.

A simple solution would be a short side rail.

Bought a low mount from Talley, it was the height from base to bottom of the ring was .400
But will the Leupold setup work?

This is the correct mount.
Zrak Scope Mount M98 for Yugo M48 Mauser
Correct set-up:
Yugoslavia M48 Sniper Rifle
Very accurate rifle. If you have a hack do the work, your wasting money.

At the rear of the receiver, there is a hump by the charger slot. That needs to be ground to allign correctly. The mounts are mounted w/ the hump ground, but not taken off.

yea ive seen that mounting system, if these Leupold mounts dont work, then ill get that set up
but ive seen the m48 setup with the Leupold 2 piece
Surplusrifle Forum • View topic - Newbie with old questions about mounting a scope on an M48
this link shows both the leupold 2 piece and the Zrak mount
i have an excellent gunsmith here in southern cali
so will the Leupold mounting system work without a lot of tweaking?
