You have a perfect oppurtunity to try

the T-53, which is, in essence, a Chinese

version of the M44. If the 53 suits you,

but you want something a little less beat

up, you can try to find a mint Polish,

Romanian, or Russian M44. I have a

new condition Polish M44 that I

wouldn't part with for the world.

The Russian M44's are in great shape unlike the Type 53's. Pick one up before they are gone. J&G has them for $179...

Every Chinese carbine I've seen for sale was shabby. Get an M44. They are in a much better shape, because most were produced after WW2 and were never issued to combat troops.

+1 on the M44. Better yet skip the M44 to buy more ammo for your 91/30. You already own the best Mosin nagant.

I have a Hungarian M44 that is one of the nicest mosin's I have ever seen. I also have a 91/59 carbine which is very similar to the m38 mosin. I would shy away from the Chinese model unless you just really want one. My 1929 91/30 is a good shooter but I think the Hungarian M44 will outshoot it.
