M1A1 Sight In
Anyone have a SIMPLE way to sight in one?

Center your rear sight . Then start at 25 yards and work your way out for elevation. Should only need 2 rounds at each distance. And congrats on your rifle.

to center the rear sight, count the number of clicks from its extreme left to its extreme right, divide by two then add or subtract from that until zero. this is your "no wind zero". bottom out elevation, count the number of clicks up until zero.
record number of clicks left and up.

you now know where to return the sights after different range and wind changes. keep records of zeros similarly for each distance you shoot from.

Besides what they said up there- if you have a 25 yd range, set elevation to give point of impact 0.4 inches ABOVE the point of aim. Assuming a .308, 150 grains, BC of .203, MV about 2830 FPS, that will give you:

100 yards- +4.1
200 +3.4
250 ZERO
300 -6.1 inches

oh boy, yeah and the moon is made of cheese!!
Listen to Sniper, there's a lot of difference between what we read from a book and what
actually happens in the field'
Shoot your rifle at all ranges that it is effective and take notes, Air temp, Bar temp, Wind.
I guarantee there will be a difference.
There is no shortcut, you have to put the gun on the range.
