Now TX you need to go ahead and get a bunch of ammo cause these rifles like to shoot. Find a 10 round mag or two or order some CMI they make shooting off the bench or from prone a lot more comfortable.
What you have is not a standard loaded---it is a Loaded M1A. I have one just like it and the other two are parkerized. Look on top of the barrel right behind the front sight and I believe you will see NM .308. You should have a national match medium weight ss tube and a NM trigger mechanism in heavy walnut stock.
Call Springfield and they can tell you what rate of twist you have--most likely 1 in 11 and the date the rifle was manufactured.
You might want to order a Sadlak NM spring guide. It really smooths out the operation of the rifle. Sadlak also makes one of the best scope mounts that can be found.
