I was given a poorly "sporter-ized" Springfield 1903 chambered in 30-06. The action, bolt, receiver and barrel are all in very good shape. It has some cheap iron sights and the stock needs work. By work I mean take it off, burn it in the fireplace and get a new one. I'm looking for a good synthetic stock. What brands have you guys found to be the most comfortable?

My intention is to turn it into my hunting rifle. Re-bluing, optics and possibly a new trigger assembly are on the immediate horizon right after I replace the broken follower spring.

might want to check out Boyd's Gunstocks. they have two laminates and a walnut stock that will fit the Springfield 1903. i have bought and used two of their stocks on a couple of rifles and can say they are excellent quality and priced decently. i am very pleased with mine. just a suggestion.
