As for Garand thumb, when pulling back the bolt on my nice Service Grade (CMP), the bolt won't really 'ride' on the rear of the follower, but tries to slam forward.
But so many others might have stronger springs, allowing them to pause there, and fool people.
Glad that I read so many bad things about Century-assembled CETMES.
