Just me, I know.
I used to be that way, but through experience I've learned that they are just tools, no more, no less.

Inanimate objects have no will, they cannot distinguish between good and evil and evil men will continue to commit atrocities no matter the tool.

There are M1s among countless other weapons in use today by insurgents and terrorists in the Middle East, they take a tool used for the freedom of millions and use it for evil.

Got myself a HRA M1 Garand. I'm extremely happy with it!

Picked one up earlier this year. They're everything, (good), you've heard about them. Very well mannered, will go right where you aim it, every time. Since I can't have my old basic training issue M-14, this is the next best thing. Takes a minute to learn loading/unloading, but beyond that, by all means get one.

The H&R Garands were made in the 1950s. They were not used in WWII or Korea. The one I have is almost new. Collectors are not that interested in them so they are a real bargain for shooters.
Make sure you field strip and clean the carbon from the piston and action after it has fired some.

I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it.

Mobile 1 synthetic bearing grease. Tube will last you forever, and not just for the M1. Only thing some people don't like is the red color to it. But I think if that's a problem, they're putting too much on.
