I did the CMP thing years ago with the intention of getting a Garand. Liked shooting em so much I ended up instructing for a few years. I LIKE a rifle that lets me tag the 10 ring at 600 yards standing. I'm an okay shot, the Garand made me a great shot. I did purchase one with my dad, but we gifted it to a neighbor that was one of the men that first walked up the beach at Iwo Jima. He was beyond thrilled. Granted his weapon of choice was the carbine version, but a Garand in good condition sure made him happy.

One CMP participant showed up with his grandfathers Garand. All Winchester parts, a stock that looked like it had never left a safe (real light colored, almost tan). He used it for the whole course and said he planned on using it as much as possible. I ran few rounds through it and it was a sweet deal, made all the right noises and was solid as a rock. Bet it would have fetched a fair penny.

This thread needs more pics!

This is the only half way decent pic of mine, but I'll post it.

Seen with my K98k, Enfield No.4 Mk.1 and my Mosin Nagant.

I'm saving a bit of cash here and there to find her a nice walnut stock.

Ok, scratch that, I just took some decent ones, unfortunately my IPad only allows one pic per post, so there will be a few.

That pic is missing something... Add an Arisaka and a Carcano to it.

Nice collection BTW. My favorite guns are WWII Milsurps. I plan on trying to get one from at least every major power that fought.

I'm planning on getting an Arisaka soon, but I'm kinda picky. I want a type99 with AA sights and the mum intact, plus I don't want to spend to much

That's why i don't have one yet.

Talk to Trez. He has a habit of finding Arisakas as cheap as Mosins. I can't seem to find one that doesn't look like it was dragged through a swamp, and used as a bat, and all of those are $200+

For me, I just can't stand the thought of owning any of the Axis' powers firearms. Creeps me out. Knowing what those thugs wanted to do to the world, and knowng what they DID as long as they could makes me just want to blow up anything Jap or German from that era. I dumped all my stuff that was at all related to either the Japs or the NAZI bastards.

Just me, I know.

You could say the same about Russian/USSR arms, Turkish arms, Chinese arms, and even US arms (yes, we have done things we are not proud of).

War is brutal, and is never pretty. No matter what side your on.
