M1 Garand

I'm really thinking about getting one... Anyone else have one?

sputnik1988 06-14-2013 02:05 AM

I've had one for a few years, I highly recommend getting one, but they aren't cheap anymore, I gave $600 for mine iirc. I would expect about $800 for the same rifle now.

One of the most fun firearms to shoot in the world. I even hunt with mine also

KJG67 06-14-2013 07:01 PM

Absolutely get one!

AggieCJ 06-14-2013 07:57 PM

Disagree, get 2. Piece of history and a blast to shoot.

danf_fl 06-14-2013 08:23 PM

I really enjoy shooting mine.

Watch for wielded actions many have been cut under Clinton then wielded, make sure all part numbers match, good luck!

May be best to purchase through CMP to avoid the issues Hank mentions. You get an inspected Garand right out of the box so to speak. Just depends on price point for matching numbers, etc.

CMP is definitely way to go. I have 3 I bought through them and all 3 are awesome

I like mine, it's just a Winchester mutt assembled during

1943, in the height of the action. But it's one of my favorite

rifles. I guess there's something about a 30.06 semi with

good iron sights. Boo-yah!;)
