"Good" and "Universal" should not be used in the same sentence. They sell for much less than a GI carbine for good reason. Originally they were using GI parts, and changed design to their own unique parts. Not a good rep for reliability nor reputability.

Folding stock on an M-1 Carbine is kinda Rambo, and yes, does affect shooting until you learn to use. Very few were made with the GI folder, most that you see are repros and quality varies. Hey- short, light, about 6.5 lbs- less than that, its a heavy pistol.
