With the full aluminum bedding block and how comfortable it is to shoot I don't think you will be disappointed with the performance of this stock at all.
I do know that the Savage/ McMillan combo ISN'T as accurate right out of the box as this set up because that combo has NO bedding done and the range reports don't lie. However a good glass bedding job would change that completely. But once you add in cost vs. performance, I think I will just stay with the setup I have!

Oh I know what you mean! I will be painting mine as soon as I have gotten some better quality glass on it that I know won't have to come back off to be replaced.

AndrewJ03, does your rifle look something like this? This is my Savage 10FLP, which is the left-handed version of the 10FP. This rifle was a tack driver right out of the box with factory ammo. A 168-grain Hornady A-Max with 41.5 grains of 4064 behind it shoots real nice from my rifle.

bigdaddy573, I am thinking of painting the stock on my rifle. What is the best type of paint to use?

I've never had a factory stock on mine, but I'm sure it's the action and barrel
