They did just recently, a three gun (of each model) shoot off, the Savage took the prize on the bench but they gave it to Winchester overall.
It was in the September issue of Shooting Times.

I agree on the Rugers accuracy, I have conducted some of my own tests over the years with several rimfires and some bolt action centerfires and have always found the other brands do generally shoot a tighter group out of the box, that is not to say Ruger is junk, they are some of my favorites, I would take a Ruger 77 over any of the budget bolt actions they are bringing out nowadays. There is nothing wrong with them for a good shooting hunting rifle but if I were looking to punch 5 shots at 1/4" at 100 yards I would look elsewhere. I don't have experience with the Ruger #1 though it seems to be held in high regard by all who are into them, I find them high priced for what they are. I currently have a Thompson Encore with the 50 cal barrel, I want to get a varmint barrel for it to have a nice lightweight hunting rig.

I don't know what apex predator means about Ruger being inaccurate and only durable but I've never shot a inaccurate Ruger
