I'm a fan of Remington but never shot a tikka so can't really comment on that part.

I just put up me a 25-06 in single shot. I like that cal. My wife can use it or my sons. They like the 7m-08 I get them in remington. They are go to like this one too.

Between the two brands,I'd go with the Tikka T3.The Tikka action is butter smooth, and they are known for having excellent accuracy.
I don't care much for their composite stocks, they look and feel very cheap, but they do have a very nice walnut stock that is available.

The magazines and scope rings for Tikka's are pretty pricey!

I am a big fan of remington 700. I have two in 7mm mag and 7m-08. I like them they shoot real good. If it was me go with remington.

I am not a fan of the 243. Go with the 7m-08 if you not going with the 25/06.

At the local range here, you'd be unlikely to see another Tikka, so from that standpoint alone, it might be kinda of cool to have the Tikka. I have not shot one, but heave read/heard good things. I have shot the Remington a lot in the last few years and like it alot except the trigger pull that must have been setup by the Remington attorneys. Fit and finish on the Remington is tight and clean.
