Default Long range

I'm looking for a rifle to start deer hunting with and to practice long range shooting with? I want a good rifle/scope combination and this is new territory for me and I'm on a tight budget. Thanks ahead for your advice and suggestions!!!!

Tough combo with a tight budget and 1000 yd goals. Depending on HOW tight your budget is I'd vote for a savage axis XP which includes a 3-9x40 Bushnell scope. I have one and love it! So far been great out to 200yrds and I will soon be taking it farther. Only cost $329 on sale at Cabela's. If you can afford a little more step up to a better savage with an accu-trigger.

Well here's the deal I've always been a proficient shot with everything I've picked up but this something I've never really worked on before. I know it's gonna take A rifle that is out of my skill set to use right now. this why I wanna start out smaller and work my way up. Besides you can never have enough guns :-)

marlin x7 chambered in 270 with a burris 3x9x50 scope. Very flat shooting caliber . Cost you between 600 and 700 dollars if you shop around. I purchased the burris fullfield ii 3x9x50 scope and I love it .
