Just ordered my first rifle.
 

My new Mossberg 100 ATR should be here on Friday. I ordered it through my local gun store for $328.60 out the door chambered in .308 Winchester. I can't wait til Friday!!!

Thank you. Ever since I first started looking at rifles, I've wanted to get a .308 Win. I just liked the image it portrayed. After getting a little older and doing more research, I realized that the .308 is a good "catch all" round, along with the .30-06. So rather than having a gun that only really has one purpose, the .308 should do just about all I need it to do, especially if I can learn the gun and become very accurate with it.

Thanks Don. I'm hoping to bring in some meat this deer season. My uncle has offered to take me on my first hunt and teach me how to field dress a deer if I bag one.

That is a great gun, great caliber, and a fine hunting piece.

Ammo can be found anywhere, and is cheap enough to shoot often.

That's one of the reasons I went for it. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the .308 is the higher pressure cartridge between it and 7.62, right? Or do I have it backwards again?
