Is it just me, or are lever action rifles cool?
I'm pretty new to personal firearms and like many (i imagine) my wish list will always be more than my budget can realize.
I've really been interested in lever action rifles lately (and I'm not sure why). I'm not a cowboy/western junkie or anything, they just seem really neat.
I know that I'd like to get a .22 Henry or something similar in the future to shoot with my kids but I'm thinking about daddy guns right now. I just want to open the discussion to multiple brands and calibers, since I'm generally new to all of this. I'd like something fun to shoot at the range that won't kill my shoulder, lol.
Any of you folks out there with lever rifles please sound off; what you have, what you like. Pics would be cool too!
I've really been enjoying my brief time on this forum so far and I'm looking forward to some great input!
Hey Calle,It just isn't right if you don't have good ole Lever Action rifles in your collection. Your right,They're COOL!,and very fun to shoot and accurate.
I have a few in my collection:
1892 Rossi-38/357 Magnum
94 AE Winchester-44 Magnum
Marlin 1897 Annie Oakley-22LR
Erma Werke 73-22WMR
Awesome! That's what I'm talkin' about hillbilly! Do you have a favorite?
Yes,All of them. LOL
My favorite lever action .22 is definatley the henry, probably the most accurate .22 I have ever shot. Ammo is dirt cheap, and you can never get tired of shooting it.
It's not you, they are definatly cool. I'm eyeing my first one right now.
I don't have a lot of pictures handy but here are a few:
Twin pre 64's Winchester 94s in 30-30 and .32 Win Spl
Technically speaking a lever gun, Shilo Sharps 45-70 (top)
I also have an early 1920s Savage 99 in .300 Savage, A Winchester 1894 from the late 1910's in .30 WCF (30-30) and a Rossi in .45 Colt somwhere in the gun room.
No favorites here, love them all...
Damb Tex, Nice family there! I have 2 levers.
EMF 1892 .44-40
Browning 1981 BLR (Steel receiver) .308
The .44-40 is a ton of fun, no recoil and plenty accurate to 150 yards. Ammo is dirt cheap to reload.
I have two lever action rifles in my possession.
1. Winchester model 94 30-30 that my dad bought me when I was 10 or so back in 1981.
2. my son's new Henry Youth Lever Action .22 he got for Christmas, Great to shoot.
In the future my son will inherit a Henry Big Boy .44 that my dad bought for him, Its in the first 500 made IIRC
Im not a cowboy either, Honestly I cant stand country music... But Lever Actions are cool!
Good luck to you
