Naturally I had to compare it with my old "pre-64" Model 70 also a 30-06. (I love that round.)

Other than differences in the stocks, the new (2011) rifle is nearly exactly the same as my old (1957) rifle. The only differences were in the bolt.

The bolt on the new rifle is a little bigger diameter. It's just as easy to pull the firing pin though.

I haven't got a scale, but my old one seems a little heavier.

I haven't got to sight it in yet (probably tomorrow while Ledbetter is at work hehehe!)

So anyway, love the new rifle. Big thumbs up to Winchester for nutting up and making "the rifleman's rifle" once more.

Just because Led has to ride the short bus and were a tin foil lined bicycle helmet everywhere is no reason to make fun of him. There are so many better reasons like his crazy hippie ex girlfriend, or his vegetarian streak, or the chupacabras upper decking his toilets, and let us not forget the alien prob he got. Must be hard being a vertically challenged mexican-irishman-american.

Ya it must be....although you forgot havin friends like us who call him short, a dirty mex leprechaun, AND set stuff on top of his curly red hair cuz we mistake the little feller for a walkin table
