Default Just got my NEW WINCHESTER MODEL 70

So after months of begging and pleading on bended knee, (which really hurt after a while,) I finally got my wife to give in. Got my brand new Winchester Model 70 30-06 Sporter.

Naturally I had to compare it with my old "pre-64" Model 70 also a 30-06. (I love that round.)

Other than differences in the stocks, the new (2011) rifle is nearly exactly the same as my old (1957) rifle. The only differences were in the bolt.

The bolt on the new rifle is a little bigger diameter. It's just as easy to pull the firing pin though.

I haven't got a scale, but my old one seems a little heavier.

I haven't got to sight it in yet (probably tomorrow while Ledbetter is at work hehehe!)

So anyway, love the new rifle. Big thumbs up to Winchester for nutting up and making "the rifleman's rifle" once more.

Anymore Winchester enthusiast's out there? Let's see 'em!!!

I think in the 2012 catalog it lists more LH models. I'll check when I get home.
