Default Just bought a remington 597.

In your opinion was this a good buy (was 200$, came with free scope, nice quality)

Dunno price of one new. I bought a 597 from a friend a few years ago. Paid Luke 50 bucks for it. I have read a lot of negative reviews and complaints about the 597. Never had amy real problems. Keep it clean and find the ammo that it likes and shoot the shirt out of it.

I got mine used from a family friend. The first time I took it to the range, it was dead on at 25 yards with the first clip I put through it. I didn't even need to mess with the scope at all. The 597 has a reputation for loading and feeding problems. I'm telling you right now, its the clip, not the gun. A stagger stack 22 LR clip will have occasional feeding problems. The 597 clip holds ten but I stop when the spring starts tensing up, usually 6-8 rounds Max. The squirrel apocalypse is a-commin!
