Default It's time for me to make a decision on what to get

And I NEED your help! I'm going to list what I have and then what I've been looking at. I'm doing this tomorrow so please give me your opinions.

I live and work a small farm, 13 acres, and have a place on a lake which sometimes gets snakey. That's why I want the Saiga 410. I was looking at the taurus judge but just can't sell myself on it.

I have:
Browning A5 16 ga - for sale
Remington 16 ga - for sale
Old Hardware store Dbl barrel 12 ga
Old single shot 20 ga - Keep for sentimental value
2 Taurus 38 specials
Colt woodsman 22 (1951) Nope, not for sale
a 10/22
Winchester semi auto 22

I want:
An AR - He has a bushmaster with colapsable stock for $950.
He has a used Saiga 410 for $350 (fun and maybe good for home defense?)
Yugo AK w/ fold under stock - $665

Do I need?
a 12 ga pump
a larger cal semi pistol ie 1911
a bolt action rifle - lg cal

This is all for (1) "now" home protection, (2) to get while the getting is good and (3) WSHTF time.

Good God I am so confused!
Thanks guys

Can't go wrong with an AR or an AK...and 665 for a Yugo Underfolder aint that bad.

The yugo is the best of all the surplus AKs and the most accurate....and **** it's just damn good.

ARs have gone down in price but they are still expensive so for me I'd wait on an AR....and since your on a farm really an AK IMO would be better suited to your enviroment....unless of course you have a big yard....like around 300 Yards....then I'd opt for the AR.

Really though I think you either need to go for an AK, AR, or possibly a large calibur pistol in 9mm or .45

I would in pistols suggest for the bang for the buck either a Taurus 1911, a CZ-75 of any variety, CZ-97, Or some type of Sig.

I think first and foremost you need a weapon that will take care of you up close, and at a distance.

The AR fits that category, as does the AK. I think the AR is a much better choice, but the AK is much cheaper and it's much easier to maintain.

If you have a 16 gauge, you don't need a 12 at this moment, in my opinion. I would concentrate on what you don't have.

I would wait on the boltgun unless you are looking for a hunting stick. Because you mentioned SHTF, I would concentrate on a medium and short range weapon that will keep heads down and give you a chance to fire and move.

i would go with the sagia 410...350.00?....thats a good price....unless its been shot to sh*t a millon times....check it out and see how much wear is on and in it...for 350 i'd jump all over that...well more because i already have 2 ar's,4 ak's,1 underfolder...& a bunch of other crap.if you do get the sagia 410 get ready to fork out 10bucks a box of bird shot for that lil exspensive shell eatter..but anyways, like JD said, get what you dont have for the task at hand....are you looking to sell the hardware store double shotty?...

I would say the AK is the best in this situation.....

Or have you thought about some form of .308 rifle?

If you had alot of bones to spend I'd go for either a PTR-91 or an M1A or FAL

True you could get an AR-10....but which version though....hell I consider the DPMS .308 to be an 'AR-10' even though it's an AR-15 in .308.

I'd rather get a DPMS .308 rifle if I was going AR platform..since magazines are more available and there are going to be Pmags for it.

OK. I'll keep the 16 ga and stock up on ammo, get either AR or AK, best deal, get the saiga...Can you give me an example of what you mean...medium amd short range...?

250-300 yards and CLOSER.

If you are looking at stretching the battlefield further than that, I would recommend against anything on the AK platform...
