Info on my old 30-06
My pictures suck. This rifle was given to me 45 years ago by my Dad. It is a 98 action I think. The markings on it are as follows
On the Barrell a oval with a crown on it, inside the oval is E over LG with a Star. The bareel also has in front of the crown and ovel +A on it. On the action isFAB NAT.D'ARMES de GUERRE hERSTAL-BELGIQUE On the right side of the action is MODELO 1935 The barrell, action, bolt all have the same 5 diget serial number. Only rifle I have ever used for Deer.

Is it a baked grey or black finish on the rifle? Could not really tell with your pics

Sorry to jack the thread, but only you know the answer to this question:
IF Matty and Josh WERE to get into some fisticuffs, who would win? Or, would it be like me and my brother where no one would die, but we'd both be beat to a pulp?
Sorry I don't have info on the rifle, but I'm sure someone will come up with something.

I called remington today. After being on hold for 20minutes,lol, I found out my rifle was made in march,1983. They couldn't give me a value for it.
1-800-243-9700 if anyone wants to call for their info.
It's a BDL 30-06.
I think yours is a bdl as well if the magazine floor plate is on a hinge.
Anyone here have a gun bluebook? I'd like to find out the approximate value as well.

I found some information on a rifle similar to yours. I think it is a Belgian army contract Mauser short rifle made by FN, Herstal, Belgium. The navy ones had a grey finish on them. If you click the link and go about 3 down you will see one that is made similer to yours. RiflesMauser
And here is a google book on Mausers that you might find some more information on. I am on pg 52 and still reading
Mauser Military Rifles of the World - Google Books
