Default Im looking at purchasing a Remington Woodsman 30-06

I've never used one or had any experience with the woodsman. It is suppose to be in good condition and have a nice Nikon scope. My buddy is selling it for $400 and was wondering if it is worth that

6909,

If it is in good shape and functions properly! Yes it is worth the $400 no doubt. I would suggest shooting it before you buy. I have a 740 and it is a good semi-auto 30-06 rifle. Bought it for $350 with a good scope but it was not a Nikon.

Had two. One a carbine.
It was minty and an older 742. It put the first shot 1" high at 100 just like I wanted. Unfortunately the rest were about 7" low. The rifle was scoped and must have suffered from the same malady as many Ruger Mini 14 ranch rifles- barrel warp. Tolerable with iron sights as your 2 point aiming systems tracks the movement, but a scope is fixed on the receiver and when the barrel moves it doesn't.

Sucked, as the gun was nice..........probably why it was never taken out and hunted with/dinged up.

Lucky to get my $ back in trade at same shop ( a yr later of course, right before season, for max trade in).

I got a regular one, beat to crap, yrs later and it shot 1.5" MOA with cheap Rem factory ammo.
