So honestly, I have no idea what his intent was.
i am pretty sure the OP is just as confused!

if i had to go with a bolt action, a pre '64 Winchester M70 in 30-06 or 308.

WW3 ...No semi-autos??? How "Twilight Zone"....
I'll take a pump shotgun in 12 gauge w/ a 22 inch barrel, an extended mag tube.... and a couple of bandolers of ammo!!

I would have to go with my Winchester model 70 30.06 with synthetic black stock and Nikon 3-9 scope. It is highly durable, deadly accurate, fast, easy to keep clean, and you can still reach out and touch someone a long way off.

the Mossberg ATR100 is a very good rifle, but has a lot of recoil! i mean lots! i had the same rifle with the black stock. the rifle was very accurate, but kicked like a mule on steroids! my current M700 in 30-06 is a *****cat in comparison to the Mossberg as far as recoil.

i highly recommend the Mossberg for a hunting rifle, but not a target shooter!

Being left handed, I would use my Rem 700 LH .308, soon to be able to use detachable magazines.

Those guys with the funny helmets and 98 Mausers lost two World Wars. Maybe the 1903-A3 would be a better choice.

Being a southern boy..... I would choose a lever action 30-30 for closer range ~300 yards.

Longer range, probably a 308 or 30-06

It only takes one dent in a thin magazine tube to shut down a 30-30 lever gun. Sand or mud under the loading gate its over. Winchester, Marlin and Savage tried many times to sell the lever guns to the government. The conventional magazine for use with a stripper made the Winchester Mdl. 95 a Military Musket for a short time. Many countries including Russia issued the old 95'.
