Good day, I am looking at a friends Rifle and am haveing difficulty finding information about it, from images I've seen online it looks like a Lee Enfield MKII or MKIV but there are a few markings on it I can't seem to ID, instead of a crown ot other symbol it had a bear and a few other symbols are on it I'm not certain about as well, below are posted some of the pics I took
Any assistance would be appreciated Thank you |
Show us a pic of the whole rifle, might be easier to start with a general idea of what rifle it is.

What caliber is it?

I've seen that mark before, I think it's a tiger, not a bear. My guess would be Nepal, think I saw it on a Martini-Henry from Nepal. Just can't quite remember. It's obviously from a country that doesn't use our style alphabet.
Is it on a SMLE, or perhaps an older LE? |

Looks like Thailand, formerly known as Siam. I knew I'd seen that mark somewhere; here's an identical one on a bayonet. Plus the lettering.Bayonets: An Illustrated History - Google Book Search

N00B post: That tiger reminds me of those SriLankan peeps, the Tamil Tigers & that squiggly writing looks a lot like the stuff at the top of this Wikipedia article about them: Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Perhaps? If it is on some kind of musket, i'm waaaay off.
