[QUOTE= The 240 and 257 is a Weatherby priority caliber ammo and is expensive on the pocketbook, BUT a lot of people really like these calibers and they will put a deer or bear down quickly, and some people use the 257 on Elk or mountain sheep with good results and at great distances.
The .257, .270 or 7mm Weatherby mag would make fine cartridges for Colorado game. If you get a Weatherby Mag, start reloading! It will take the sting out of shooting it.

What do you like to do, and what do you need? Choose the firearm that best fills the hole in your armory. I recently bought a Series 2 and was impressed with the build quality and two stage trigger.

Thank you for all of the replies!!!!

Ok, so I decided to get the rifle. I have a bunch of shotguns already and I enjoy shooting a rifle a little bit more.

I am a hunter, living in CO I hunt deer, elk and black bear (also coyotes and p-dogs). I already own a 30-06, a 325 WSM, a 22-250 and a 223.

With that being said, I have a new girl in my life that would like to start hunting a little bit.

That 30.06 and the 325 WSM really kick, so I was thinking the 270 or the 270 WSM.

I really like the ballistics of the WSM rounds, but, the 270 is plentiful at stores around me aka Wall World.

What are your thoughts between those two rounds? Any females out there like to hunt big game? what is your caliber of choice for deer/elk.

THank you also for the congrats, I literally jumped all around when I heard I won it!.....very happy day!
It's like paradise on Earth, enriched with the ever so sweet nectar of
elk urine.

When you're out there by yourself, you become who you really are.

For Elk the 270... if just deer the .243 would have been great. Enjoy! Nice surprise for you.
