Sarge- if you have a copy of Gunsmith Kinks II, believe the post 64 receivers are covered in there. IIRC, the post 64s were a "Graphitic Steel Casting".

Here is a picture of my Marlin 336 30/30 that I have had since 1986 and you can see the deference in it and the one in the video . notice the straight stock on the Winchester and the pistol grip on the Marlin and the trade mark gold trigger on the Marlin the side eject open and the closed side eject of the one in the video.
If you have drilled and tapped holes in a Marlin, then someone has had a scope on it at sometime. Normally the rifle come with plug screws in those holes. You can get some to hid the ugly holes at Midway or Brownells. Even some local gun shops might have them in stock.
