Can anyone refer my to a good scope for my .30-06 browning x-bolt? I'm using leupold mounts

What area of the country are you in and shooting the gun from? Mountains, desert, forests, etc, (makes a huge difference in what power of scope you might prefer. a 3x9x40 is a great start to search for. Leupold, Nikon, Vortex, etc, etc, etc, Get one with 1/4th minute of angle clicks and not the screwdriver type. Avoid the low budget scopes as they have a hard time holding their zero. Thick brush id get a 1.75x6 power. Some people like fixed powers, but a 6x fixed power in the mountains in trees is useless. Out looking across a canyon I can see their use.

Our latest American Rifleman (1) has a dope bag article on the Leuopold VX-2. It is the ongoing version of the original Vari-X II, later renamed to the VX-II, and now the VX-2.

It is a very good mid-price scope.

I forgot to mention I will also be using it for long range shooting if that make any difference to ur recommendation sorry for that in advance

I have three hunting guns. All have Leuopold scopes on them. Never had an issue with them. They hold zero, and are tough. One, I was going down a steep grade, lost my footing and went airborne. Scratched the heck out of my 700 BDL stock, and dented the front sun shade on the scope. Took it to the range, and it was still dead on.

I pulled the trigger on a new kimber rifle a few weeks ago. There I might have to up grade the scope, but Leuopold is still on the top of the list.

I currently use a NIKON buckmaster 3x9 with the BDC reticle and love it for long range. If was to do it again I would be real torn between the same one again or the vortex. I've really liked vortexs other optics. I really like NIKONs spot on program to though.
