I don't think I would mess with a MN as a shooter anymore. I got mine when they were $69 and lucked out and got a good shooter (some are crap). After a scope mount and Timney trigger with a "good" safety I have about $150 invested total doing the work myself. With the guns going for that much to start with I think you would be better off getting a Savage or Handy Rifle in something like .243. Maybe not as "cool" but would be a better hunter then a MN. Just my nickel minus 3.
