Funsucker! I'll worry about that once I get it. I will have to look into reloading.

Plus, Spitty said he would trade ammo for trigger time.

Um, Why??

Do you have a 1,000 yard range? Because the .50BMG really isn't even stable until 150-200 yards, so to get the full benefit you really need to have a serious long range available.

Do you have any magnum caliber long guns currently??

I'm thinking it's some kind of twisted, cruel hoax.

I do have a 500 yard range that allows 50BMG shooting.Ye Olde Gun Club
The biggest rifles I have are the Mosins.

No, not a hoax. I am going to get a .50, sometimes I am serious. The wife and I are in agreement.

I may let you shoot it in El Paso.

Well a 500 yard range is nice, no doubt about that. But have you given some thought to say something in the middle??

.338 Lapua or a .300 Win Mag or a 7mm Remington Magnum by any chance?

The big .50, while it holds a mystique with some folks, just really isn't practical to take to a range you can't shoot 800-1000 yards. It's just not designed for shorter ranges, and it's expensive as hell to feed.

But if the .50 must be had, I wish you well and Go with John Browning my Son.

As long as I don't shoot over 150 rounds a year, I think I will be good. Plus it will be loads of fun.

Check my other thread about maybe going 20 mike mike.

I still have to decide on an AR caliber.

I recently joined a range in my neighborhood (relatively new to the area) and they allow .50 BMG's in their indoor 50 yard range! It seems they have a small group that visits regularly.

I've never shot mine any closer than 300 yards and it is true a large projectile does require some distance to "level" out.

Anyway, Shihan, I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you decide upon and I don't think you can go wrong with any of the offerings. They ARE a blast!

Me? I'm thinking I want to try one of the Bohica uppers since it gives me an excuse to get another AR....maybe this one in 6.8 and a nice .50 BMG upper as an accessory.

At 150 rounds a year, you definitely will not be getting any benefit out of the platform. Coupled with a short range, it's not really money well spent.

As for 20mm - I am 95% sure you are probably talking about Anzio Steel or Anzio Iron, I forget the name. I have heard good and bad about the product, but never seen one up close to judge for myself. Either way, unless you live in the high desert, or have 2,000 yards to shoot, it's a GIGANTIC waste of money.

You don't have an AR and you are worried about Big Bore Boltguns?!?!

Priorities man, PRIORITIES!!

AR first, and THAN you can worry about a long range platform....
