Howa short action
I am playing with the idea of building a rifle, so i would like to find a howa short action, action only ,i know the barreled action can be purchased ,but i just want to take my time and find good deals on things as i go, maybe a couple year project, so action here,barrel here and so on, does anyone know who or were an action only can be purchased,thinking maybe stainless also.thanks.

I'm not aware of anybody selling bare Howa actions. What you could do is buy a used Howa and rebuild to your specifications. Pawn shops or gun stores usually have some good deals-especially on the off season. Look for 1 that looks as if it's been drug behind a truck. You're going to change the barrel & stock anyway, and it's hard to hurt the action save for surface rust.

Your gonna have a tough time finding one. You should get a barreled action and save the original barrel.

I think you are problably right, but i was hoping to find one CHEAP if there is such, i have found a few used ones, but for $400 i might as well buy new,but i will hold out till i cant take it anymore, which may be sooner than later.i have a weird feeling that this take my time project may get rushed, i get a little excited about stuff like this when i get started.

Legacy Sports International (at the below address) is the importer of Howa rifles and they do offer barreled actions for sale. They do not offer actions only.
Howa
You may want to consider looking at the action offerings from Montana Rifle company at the link below. They manufacture a new Pre 64 Model 70 style action in both steel and stainless, short and long style actions. These should make a top quality rifle.
