Default Howa Question?

Howdy Fellas.

I got a howa 1500 varminter supreme with the thumbhole nutmeg stock. My question is if anyone knows if i could get ahold of the axiom stock and set my action in it, i love my gun and off a good rest i can shoot/kill anything i put my crooshairs on, but man that thing is heavy. Or possibly jus a dif stock, i like the wide forend stocks and am wanting one in mossy oak brush camo.

Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks, Rob

Shouldn't be a problem. Howa sells their guns in the Axiom stock, just make sure you get the right model for a light vs heavy barrel or short/long action, I think those variables matter at least, I'm not an expert.

What caliber is your gun? Do you have the heavy barrel? I do and it is a really heavy gun, I can hit 1.5" groups at 200 yards from a stand and can only hit a gallon milk jug 1 in 5 shots at 200 yards holding it free hand. But I don't think the stock is the heavy part, its the barrel on my gun.

I should have specified, I shoot .223 and usually it's Remington UMC's.

i got it in 22-250 and with the heavy barrel. at 200 it'll patch a small hole, i reload my own bullets. you are right the barrel is the heavy part, but a lighter stock would help a lil, plus i'm kinda cautious about the wood on mine and like to be able to not worry about scratching it all up.

The Axiom stock may not be the answer. I have an older 1500 HB in .308. It has a Hogue stock. There is no flex in this stock at all. Your rifle is intended to be heavy to increase stability. You may find it very front heavy w/ that fugly Axiom stock. Do you use a bi-pod?
Don't worry about scratching the wood.

lol, "Fugly" i agree with that i thought it was fugly at fist, but it growed on me, and the axiom stock was jus a thow up in the air idea, i really would rather go with a fully bedded stock, and i have a few hogues, but i was wanting to build it up with a stock in mossy oak brush camo and hogue dont offer that, to my knowledge. and yes i've alway got a bipod tied on the front

thanks, rob

Look at the Bell & Carlson stocks. They make some models for the Howa and they are OUTSTANDING stocks!
