No but It dose add a twist to a lever gun lol but I would rather have a good ol Winchester model 94

There are still a lot of Savage Model 99's around. They have some different caliber choices than the Winchesters, Marlins, Henry's and Brownings.

The "Duke" always used the 92 Winchester in 38-40 caliber. You are right the Savage 99 is a fine Lever Gun. It shoots modern high pressure rounds and shoot pointed bullets. It can handle a top mounted scope as well. I have a 1950 Mdle. 99 .300 Savage that lives in my Jeep. I shoot cast bullets in the .300 and it works great. The very flat handy .94 Winchester has a very special place in the heart of American outdoorsman. It does make me sad to see these Yankee Icons made in Japan.
