If it was my money, one of these:

1) Leupold VariX I
2) Redfield Revolution
3) Leupold Rifleman

Get the best optic you can afford.

I took the scope off my TC Encore 45/70 barrel and replaced it with a small Bushnell red dot.

I have a Leupold Rifleman 3-9 X 40 on my 257 Weatherby. Its a good scope for the money. It uses friction to keep the adjustments set and they don't click which some people don't like. I kinda like it because I can stop between clicks. I do wish I'd spent a little more and got a bigger objective for low light conditions but it isn't bad.

Any quality lightweight scope, preferably in 1-4.5 power would be perfect. Leupold has a good selection of low power scopes.

This rifle qualifies as a "primitive weapon" in LA. Gotta luv the Sportsman's Paradise.

I refuse to believe that you even own such a rifle until you regale us with photos of it!

You could invest on 4x ior scope and it's not that pricey.
