Does anyone have experiences with/ opinions about coating (GunKote for one, DuraCoat for the other) versus re-bluing rifle barrels?

I have a Remington 700 30-06 that is my carry gun, and is also a bit of a looker (walnut stock), BUT it has some rust spots on the barrel which I need to address after hunting season. It has the "matte" finish and from what I understand, this may always be prone to re-rusting due to the increased metallic surface area. Using Rem-oil for now but *sigh* I'm kind of anal about the looks. It shoots like a champ.

I am going to have this professionally re-finished either way, cost wise it is about a wash ($150 to re-blue, $160 to coat). Just curious who has experience with either in terms of wear, resistance to scratching, etc. To me, the Remington 700 is a classic and I am not interested in making it look like something other than a Rem 700......but at the end of the day,it is a working gun and not a museum piece.

Thoughts?
