Guess i need to buy .22lr now.

my father in law sent us an early Xmas present: Ammo!!! and a good bit of it too. only problem was that he "mis-remembered" that i have a .22WMR, and he sent us 1k rounds of .22lr. we havent opened the other box yet, (wife said we have to wait) but so far we have opened 5 boxes .308, 5 boxes .223 and the 2 bricks of .22lr. we also got 5 packs of targets, which will last us a good bit. at this point i am pretty sure that the other box has handgun ammo. i just wish the wife would let us open that one!!!

Ratman,It sounds like you've got a great father in law. There are quite a few excellent 22lr's on the market today. Have fun picking which one you want.

Pick up a Ruger 10/22. They're a hoot to shoot. :D

Although I've never had a handgun, my German friend really likes his Walther .22.

Despite have only acquired all of my other guns in the last two years, Mini 14, 30, SKS, MN 44, LE #4, #5s, plinking first with the .22 is still fun and reduces my need to shoot up more ammo in these larger calibers.

As this river is less than a mile from several houses in a small town, half the time spent with a .22 attracts no real attention.
But luckily, it is common for guys to practice with their shotguns against various fixed objects-or airborne clay pigeons.

The only officer who has ever come down through the trees to a levee during my 'many' visits, wore the dark green uniform of "Wildlife/Fisheries". He only wanted to know a few weeks ago that my loud Lee-Enfield "Jungle Carbine" was Not a black powder rifle aimed at deer during the wrong weeks.

Sounds like a good Christmas present to me and a great reason to pick up a new rifle!
