I would suggest a Ruger American, or marlin x7 over a Remington 770.

350$ should find you a very clean M44 with

matching serial numbers, right about now.

But I would not wait 6 months.

I think the sks is a fun, cheap, rifle. I picked mine up a few months ago at a gunshow for $180, and i've seen them at cabelas for $280. Fun to shoot (although not the most accurate gun out there). On the plus side, there are tonnes of aftermarket accessories and what not.

Remember we are comparing these guns to mosin nagants and other cheapy rifles the 770 isnt all that bad for 320$ some mosins nowadays for the same price why not go a little more modern?

When did you purchase this? Wow 280$? In my area there going for about 375-450$!

A couple months ago at the gun show for 180 actually, the one they were selling at cabelas was 280. And I thought that was expensive! Mind you im in canada but still, usually things are more expensive up here!

Saw a couple Turkish Mausers go for $90 and less this week. 1941 and 1944 WW2 models. Looked like they had been sitting under the previous owner's body since then but they still shot.
