Good day
Took the .223 to the range with the new scope to sight it in (6x24) and did probably about the best I've ever done at 200 yards.
Had a pretty heavy wind to the left so I left it sitting a little to the left, but I walked in the last few clicks and the final 3 shots are there on the left touching on about a 3 inch target. I was pretty shocked. I've never done good enough to keep the shots touching at that distance.

Looking very good. Nice shooting and thank you for sharing. Got any photos of the rifle that sent those shots downrange?

Thanks all.
Yeah. I was pretty stoked. That's the best I've ever shot that far out.

Yeah, I like those days at the range when things seem to go your way. It is not too hot or cold, the wind is not blowing too hard and you are shooting well. This target was used for sighting in my Savage .308 for a load I was testing. The first shot was in the middle but low. A few clicks and it was still low. I clicked too many times and the third shot was high. The fourth shot was just about right. These shots were from 100 yards.

I've done a lot worse at 100 yards, and been happy with it.
Yeah, that would make my day. Congratulations!

The best part of this good day of shooting was the way it happened. I already had what I thought was my pet load and I was just going to test this other load that I had for a while but never shot. To my surprise it performed better than my pet load. It was just a simple combination of a Lapua 167-grain bullet, Lapua brass and 42.0 grains of IMR 4895.
