thank you god someone else has a level head. ask a simple question and people answer it in more detail than me trying to explain string theory to someone.

I would take my savage 30-06 it been from Alaska to Oklahoma from caribou, deer and coyotes and my colt 1911 for a sidearm.

I missed the 4.5lb qualifier part. A KelTec SU16 would probably make the weight or close to it.

I'd go with my Ruger Mini-14 in 223 & Beretta M9 9mm.

Lots of folks don't have a SHTF type gun that weighs less than 6#, much less than 4.5#, but in any instance, I'd take my bolt action 22LR and semi-auto 22LR pistol. What jams up in the semi-auto, would work in the bolt action. A 22LR rifle can kill up to 100yds anything from a bullfrog to a deer AND not tear up the meat, but of course shot placement is critical on larger game. 22LR is made in the BILLIONS/TRILLIONS of rounds which makes it the most plentiful of all ammo and can be found on any Mom/Pop shelf. A semi-auto pistol would give anybody those extra quick shots for those short distant encounters. You can also pack LOTS of 22LR ammo in less weight than any centerfire round can be packed for quick moves if needed. So if SHTF---it'll be a 22LR for me. True, a large caliber will leave a big hole, but "Dead is Dead", no matter what size bullet you was hit with. I don't like these pick one gun over another as I sure would miss all my other rifles I have in 44Mag,243Win,22Mag,9mm carbine,30-06 and my other pistols in various calibers. Hope we never need a scenario like this.

I agree with the whole .22 argument but I would pick a 10/22 and a browning buckmark if I had to chose

Mine would be a marlin 45-70 guide rifle and a kel tech su 16
AR15A1 configuration with pencil barrel 20". its lightweight and will get the job done while allowing many many many rounds to be carried easily. colt series 70 1911. (opinion might change when i get my XDm 45).
